Professional drivers are a valuable asset—and today, a scarce one.  The American Trucking Associations estimates that the national long-haul truck driver shortage will be 110,000 by 2013. 

 

The trucking industry is committed to recruiting professional and safe drivers.  MMTA's Driver Training Education Council is a forum for our state's public and private truck driver training programs to map out a plan to meet the needs of Maryland's trucking industry in the 21st century.

 

The Education Council meets on a regular basis to discuss training issues, and to develop and implement programs to promote truck driving as a career.
